My render of an elasmosaurus is NOT a resource or stock image; the downloadable contents are.

Aquatic resource for DAZ studio contains 1 daz file and 1 caustic gel in bmp format. DAZ scene contains background sphere, vertical fog/water planes, 1 camera (from which scene was rendered), lights, and no caustic light. Put the gel image where you want, and set "Spotlight 2" parameter tab's "image" to that file.

When changing cameras and camera angle, make sure you move the fog plane null to be almost parallel with the camera, as well as adjust the scaling to fit the scene.

EDIT: For DS2+; the caustic light that had been causing problems was removed. Now contains two versions: 1 bright and 1 dim.

Very cool and helpful. I'm simultaneously fascinated with and terrified by deep sea creatures and any kind of aquatic monsters. This should definitely be handy for underwater scenes, thanks!

This is fantastic! I've never done any underwater renders, mainly because I have no clue how to light them. Thank you for sharing this!

GI is super important underwater, since water itself is a 'light source', but you can fake it with well set ambient colors. And a good deal of light comes from directly below.

Yeah my BF LOVES dinosaurs as well... he even has dino stickers on his wall!

If I saw it in my pool I would make money off of it... ditto for ocean. maybe tag it with my name if I saw it in the ocean. I'm rich, baby!
